Middle School Parents is the parent organization for Granville Middle School, and we support our staff & students year-round.
Joining MSP for $20 helps us fund things like the 8th-grade Washington, D.C., trip scholarships, Principal-Parent Breakfasts and Lunches, and the 7th-grade “Inspire” Breakfast. A recent MSP endeavor was the purchase of ergonomic furniture and standing desks for classrooms. Our goal is 100% GMS family membership.
Our parents are busier than ever, so meetings will be held to a minimum. Please watch for upcoming meeting announcements in Mrs. Ormond’s newsletter.
Principal Lisa Ormond hosts breakfasts and lunches throughout the year for all parents (names randomly chosen monthly until everyone has received an invitation). These casual group gatherings keep parents apprised of GMS goings-on and offer insight into the middle school years. There are many changes for our children: academically, organizationally, personally, and hormonally. Mrs. Ormond coordinates these candid events, and it proves a great opportunity for principal and parents alike! The food served is prepared by the school food service, AVI, and is paid for by MSP.
Our GMS Teachers & Staff
Conference days result in long days, so MSP provides teachers and staff with dinner during Teacher Conferences. We coordinate volunteers via Sign-Up Genius to prepare food, donate supplies, set up and clean after meals. MSP also takes a week in the spring to honor the incredible GMS team effort with Staff Appreciation by organizing special daily delights (e.g. breakfast, lunch, bottled waters in the lounge, various treats, an unexpected cerce). MSP welcomes many hands for light work!
Since MSP does not have a signature fundraiser like an auction or school supplies sale, we rely greatly on Membership and Spirit Wear Sales. MSP sells exclusive, custom-designed GMS items ideal for gifts and showing all-around school spirit! Chair: Julie Guglielmi.
MSP also receives a portion of Concession Sales when our volunteers work the Middle School track meets and football/ volleyball/ basketball games. Chair: Jamie Jolly.
Truly, we appreciate you considering the $20 Membership and possibly even volunteering for a committee. The two years at GMS are short, but they also are such an exciting and essential time for all. Thank you for your support and for being an integral link in the 7th-/8th-grade experience.
With sincere gratitude,
